Brainspotting
Hello brave one! First off, let me honor you and your courage on reading this information. I personally understand how difficult it can be to search for resources. You should be very proud, and perhaps consider giving yourself a hug!
I'm sorry for the trauma you've endured and I'm ready to hold space for you. Our time working together will be a safe space for you to process any trauma/s. Rest assured, I will be here for you so that you do not have to worry about anything but feeling and healing.

What is Brainspotting?
The following information is from Forbes.com - Read full Forbes article, click here.
Brainspotting grew out of EMDR, which uses bilateral stimulation to reprocess memories and heal from emotional distress, explains ShaQuan Read, a licensed mental health counselor trained in brainspotting.
Brainspotting involves visually focusing on these specific spots, serving as a targeted mindfulness that helps someone identify internal sensations or emotions, which usually manifest as tension in the body, and connecting it to a specific spot in the visual field that brings up that feeling or emotion, explains Read. Over time, brainspotting is used to create new neural pathways, so that the spot triggering these feelings no longer leads to these feelings or emotions. “It helps us process the difficult emotions and experiences stored in our long-term memory,” Read explains.

Preparing for sessions & Aftercare
Preparations:
Step 1 - IF You have NOT worked with me before, please schedule and "FREE one-time 20-minute session." We will use this time to go over information about brainspotting and for you to ask me questions.
Step 1 - If you HAVE worked with me before: Please book a 80 min session. This should give us enough time to speak about your barriers that are holding you back from moving forward and processing time.
Step 2: Please clear the remainder of your day. Due to the potential that you may continue to process, please consider clearing your schedule for the rest of your day. Also, consider filling the day with self-care and have a safe person to speak to afer session, if needed.
Step 3: Please have a space free of distractions. Have a private space away from family, work, or anywhere you do not have privacy. This session can be activating, and you deserve to have a space to feel everything that comes up without distractions. Phone on "do not disturb."
-Be intentional on trying to have a full night of sleep, the night prior.
-Consider a quick walk or stretches to promote increased blood flow prior to your appointment. This can also help you get more sleep post-session.
During session
As a reminder, once the spot is located processing that looks different from person to person. As a Practitioner my sole purpose is to be by your side as you process. This may be quiet, VERY quiet, loud, your body releasing with gas, laughs and/or tears. The beauty is that your brain is doing EACTLY what it needs to do. Sometimes there are no answers, sometimes there's closure. However this looks like for you, if you are ready to have a journey of healing, I would be more than honored to be selected and support you.
What to have handy:
-Plenty of water nearby.
-Tissues
-Phone or whatever device plays your music - if phone is what will be used for music, please put it on "do not disturb" and notifications shut off.
-Headphones will be used so that you can access music on low volume during session. Headphones need to be one on each ear, so that the bilaterial sounds/music will be heard on both sides.
-Bilaterial music selection ready, this should be a carefully picked playlist, or a YouTube video. Music should have a duration of at least 60 min.
-Optional Having your next session booked, so that it can help ease potential anxiety.
-Optional to have your preferred blanket, or any other items that may help you feel grounded.
-Optional Clients may continue to process, you may consider journaling or starting a processing journal.
